Fight for your Health

Staying fit, strong and healthy might not be something that you think about too often, but perhaps you should. We all grow old whether we like it or not. So don’t live in wilful ignorance, educate yourself about what you can do to improve your health today. What we shall be looking at just now are dietary changes that are easy to make which benefit our health in a positive way.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

This is a phrase that most of us know from childhood. What is it saying to us? The basic premise is that we should eat fruits (and vegetables) to stay in good shape. This is sound advice. How much fruit and vegetables do you eat?

The U.K. newspaper, The Guardian report in an article – Is five portions of fruit and vegetables a day enough? – (my emphasis)

in Britain we are told to live by the five-a-day maxim, the Danes must aim for six, the French 10, and Canadians are urged to get through between five and 10. The Japanese government, however, now recommends up to 13 portions of vegetables plus four of fruit daily.

This shows us that Japanese people are advised to eat more than three times the amount of fresh, whole plant based foods than people living in the U.K. This really tells a story. The Japanese are known for their slim figures and long life spans. On top of this, we know intuitively that fruits and vegetables are our friends. In other words, for the best health, it’s important to consume lots of fresh fruit and vegetable nutrition every day.
